“You were in the midst of a chaotic, unfair, didn’t-know-how-it-was-going-to-end story, and the only thing you could do was… keep moving.” -Lynn Good
I’m done missing opportunities that were handcrafted for my hand to grasp.
I’m done being afraid of all the ways something could go wrong.
I’m so done living a life where I walk on the sidewalk when I could be sprinting through the field.
Life is messy, and yeah, most things won’t go how they’re planned, but when everything crashes and burns, at least I’ll feel alive because I took the plunge. At least I won’t worry about a life where I have regrets.
Sometimes, things get broken in the most beautiful way. Something you believe to be perfect could be so much better in a different way. On a different path.
Therefore, stop being so afraid of the future and just live in this moment. Everything will turn out exactly how it’s meant to be. You’ll live, even if you end up getting humiliated or hurt.
I’d so much rather face the worst outcome than no outcome at all.
I’d rather gain that experience than allow my mind to continue at the level it’s on.
I’d rather live now, so that when I die there’s not a single ‘what if’ in my mind.
Life is scary. I know that. I guess there just comes a point when you realize that your fear is the only thing holding you back. You are the only thing holding you back. I can’t live that way. I refuse to.
So let it blow up. Let my life be surrounded by flames from the heat of my mistakes and misfortunes, and then look for me, floating on my back in the middle of a pond.
Because the bad parts of life might be downright awful, but that cannot change the fact that the good parts of life have the capability to be extraordinary.
That’s where you’ll find me. Focusing on all the times it did work. All the times life worked in my favor. All the times it didn’t, but that misfortune turned into a blessing.
Take the risk. Please, don’t hold back, even if you think you know the ending isn’t pretty. Life works in our favor sometimes.
Now that you have that in your mind, you’re unsure. There’s a part of you that is now wondering if the outcome could actually be different than what you’re expecting. Well, you won’t know if you don’t try… so try.
Then, no matter what happens, focus on the fact that you’ve gained an experience. You’ve gained wisdom. And you’ve ruled out a ‘what if’ that had the potential to rule you.
Life is so ugly at times, but sometimes there’s beauty in the most unlikely of places if you’ll look from the right angle with the right mindset. The things that can be gained from experience and the knowledge that accompanies those adventures.
Be done walking on the sidewalk. You know where it’s headed, and you know what you’ll see.
Sprint through the field. You have no idea where you’ll end up, and who knows what you’ll see.
